Prick of the Day

I think I might start doing this weekly, unless we start having more pricks show up.  Today's prick of the day, current member of the Virginia General Assembly, with aspirations to take over Frank Wolfe's seat in congress.

So why is he winning today's prick of the day award.  Well, lets count the ways.  First he created and supported the Virginia law which defined marriage as between one man and one woman.  It went as far as to ignore marriages that were not of a man and a woman in the state.  He wants "In God We Trust." posted in all schools.  This one is just insane as its already illegal but, he wants to prohibit the sending of sexual explicit emails (or other electronic media) to minors.  Yeah, he in part received this award because he tied up the General Assembly for repealing "Obamacare" and for making something that is already illegal, illegal.

He once stated that Justice Kennedy (whom I have no like of) as being gay.  Planned Parenthood causes women to be saddled with children with developmental disabilities.  Oh, +Larry Dillon did you know that sodomy is not a civil right?  Good Catholic boy there.  So, in his mind, gay marriage is not a civil right because sodomy is not a civil right.
"It is an insult to suggest that the efforts of Dr. Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks are in any way parallel to the efforts to do things that have been criminal for most of this nation's history."
Um... What?  African Americans were treated as second class citizens, just as women, and any non-white christians were.  It is pretty much that way now, except we can add gays, and several other groups to that list.

And that is before his comments and actions involving abortion.  First he wanted to require an extremely invasive exam before an abortion could be performed.  It was later changed so that it was less invasive.  If we look back to 1989 before he went into politics (and after viewing his actions while being a politician) we can see very little change in the man.  Here are some quotes from that interview when he was the research director of the American Life League..
"We're against the IUD and pills, too. They don't prevent ovulation and conception, they prevent implantation, which is abortion."
Alright, so as soon as the sperm gets to the egg, everyone should be running around screaming, "Its Alive!!!" like some old horror flick.  Alright.  But oh, not only does he show his colors against the gay population of Virginia he adds this tidbit when railing against Norpant, an implantable contraceptive.

"It's a real tribute to women's intelligence," Marshall told the reporter. "They feel so irresponsible they can't do something once a day?"
I don't even know where to begin tackling that one.  Oh, he also said incest is sometimes voluntary, and this is what he said about rape...
"Your origins should not be held against you [referring to the victim's unborn child]. The woman becomes a sin-bearer of the crime, because the right of a child predominates over the embarrassment of the woman."
And from there, once he was in office, he attempted to prevent colleges from making contraceptives available to students.  Yeah, real winner we have hear people.

Oh yeah, he wants more guns in schools.  You know teachers who are already massive underpaid, over worked, and stressed out walking around with a gun.  What can go wrong with that?  For those of you who are not from Northern Virginia, let me set some things straight for you.  If you live there, you are either upper middle class, or you are in the upper class.  Sure there are some poor people around, but you would have to go into some other counties or some of the inner cities to find them.  Where he resided in Fairfax is not considered poor by any means.  But here we are, someone who is wealthy, white, christian shoving his personal views, and the views of the vocal minority onto the national stage.  The good thing is, he does not have a chance, as history shows.  Two runs for Senate, two times in which he didn't make it out of the primary season.  God help us if he gets lucky.
